‘Road-rage’ crash kills race car driver who was engaged to be married, Indiana cops say

A 24-year-old race car driver linked to Tony Stewart's team died in a "road rage" crash on Aug. 18, as reported by Indiana State Police.

Ashlea Albertson, from Greenfield, Indiana, was a passenger in a GMC Terrain during the incident on Interstate 65 in Jackson County.

The drivers of a GMC Terrain and a Chevrolet Malibu engaged in aggressive behavior, speeding up and not allowing each other to pass, leading to a collision.

Tragically, Albertson was ejected from the Terrain during the collision and was later pronounced dead at University of Louisville Hospital.

Albertson's father, Todd Albertson, shared a heartfelt message on Facebook,

The crash took place as Albertson and her fiancé were returning from a vacation; the couple had plans for a wedding in March 2024.
